You may be asking yourself what in the world is "Follypalooza?"
Well, for the past ten years a wonderful group of people have come together planning a cancer benefit fundraiser here on Folly Beach. Folly is known for its many different festivals...
Many assume that this event is just another festival.
However, they could not be more incorrect!
Directly, Follypalooza supports our Folly Beach neighbors who, due to medical ailments, are in dire need of financial support. Primarily, Follypalooza raises money for cancer patients, but also helps those with other critical illnesses and medical issues on a case-by-case basis.
To date, Follypalooza has successfully raised over $60,000 for local cancer patients thanks to the generous support of the Greater Charleston community. Since Follypalooza was established, they have helped four locals in their journey to being cancer free!! Additionally the group has provided financial support to over 35 others who were struggling to make ends meet. In conjunction with the Folly Angels and the Folly Beach Exchange Club, Follypalooza is able to identify beneficiaries following a thorough screening process.
So now you may be asking, what can I expect at this year's Follypalooza?
When: October 21st from 10 am to 5 pm.
How Much: $5 in advance, $10 at the door.
Kids under 12 & FB Residents (photo ID required) are always free.
Pups and Drinks: Sorry, no dogs or coolers this year.
The event will include live music by Plane Jane, The Dupplates, Dave Landeo, Dallas Baker and Friends and more. A Kid Zone with FREE kid activities, games, inflatables, face painting and entertainment. Arts, crafts, fashion and food vendors galore. A shuttle available,thanks to Graffiti Limo, for transportation to outlying restaurants and parked cars. This is a family friendly event that is not to be missed! Come out and see Folly and its wonderful locals for a great cause!
Local of Folly and our staff member at Folly's Best Rentals, Megan McCartney , would love to see you at this event! Initially, Megan was diagnosed in November of 2016 with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer. After undergoing chemotherapy and an invasive chest wall surgery, she then found out that she instead had a very rare form of cancer called Epitheliod Sarcoma, a soft tissue cancer that hardly has any research. Currently, Megan is undergoing proton radiation therapy in Jacksonville, Florida. Finishing just days before the event, Megan plans on stopping by the festival here on Folly Beach!
